5/19/06   Hoosier Auto swap meet , Indianapolis Indiana

I brought along "Heavenly Body Shop" flyers to pass out at the swap meet.  Last year I taped them inside all of the porta-pots on the grounds so people would have something to read during their visit.  This year I felt the Lord directing me to notice the people working the event, especially the women.  Overall, the ladies were very receptive.  Here are some of the responses:

-One lady took the flyer and said with a scowl, "sure what is it, another craft fair poster?"  I replied with a smile, "nope this is for free".  She read the flyer and returned my smile.

-Another gal took it and said, "no I haven't heard of this business, but maybe my husband has, he'll be back soon."  She read some more and smiled - she understood the message.

-One man that I purchased a tricycle from, read it and said, "I too am a Christian, I used to work in a body shop".  He said he had two other brothers that were fellow Christians and that he would share the flyer with them.

-One lady liked the message so well, she asked for a few more and said she would place them out on her booth for other customers to see.

-I gave it to one other lady who read it and said, "I too am a follower of Jesus Christ".  That filled my heart with so much joy, that it was easy to share with her how God has touched my life and how He has lead me.

-People have asked, "where is this business located?" , "how much do they charge"

5/20/06  Car Show, Seymour Indiana

During a car show, I gave the flyer out once I was engaged in a conversation about cars.  I was polishing my parents '52 Chevy and when people were asking about the car I finished the conversation with the question, "may I offer you a smile?" Then I followed with the questions mentioned before.

Be very prepared with sound doctrinal answers, you might hear all kinds of reasons why people don't connect with church or Jesus.  They might try to stump you in order to justify their reasons for not following Christ or going to church.   Remember to be gentle and above all,  share the difference Jesus has made in your life.

-One man told me that his brother used to be mean and nasty and cursed a lot till he started working on his old '56 chevy.  Then he began to go to church.  He said his brother has asked him to go to church but replied, "ya know you have done all these awful things in your life and church makes you feel good about yourself, but I haven't done the things you have done."  He also justified not going to church because he can experience God just by being outside and enjoying nature.  I concluded that he did not know what it means to have a relationship with Jesus, so I kept the conversation light and just shared why my life is so joyful with Christ in it.  I tried my best not to offend him.

-One lady replied, "I too know of this business."  She also claimed Jesus as her savior.  I then shared with her and her friend about the Gear Head Gospel message and how God has helped me.  They took extra flyers to share with their husbands.

I made a new flyer called "Good News Garage".  My dad got into the fun this year and also passed out flyers.  I would approach a person I felt the Lord was drawing me to and said:
- "Can I offer you a smile?"   (I would then hand them a flyer)
- "Just a reminder that God loves you and He is still thinking about you."  (I would depart with a smile)

My father handed one to a man who professed to be a Christian.  He was from Africa and we were blessed by his smile and over flowing Spirit.  What a joy to share Christ and have it bounce back!  ;)
